A step forward for the California DISCLOSE Act

AB 1648, the California DISCLOSE Act, which will help voters know who or what is paying for political ads, passed the Assembly Elections and Redistricting Committee late last week on a 4-2 vote, thanks to the support of many citizens and advocacy groups. Next step is a hearing before the Assembly Appropriations Committee on April 18th. Lobbyists representing some of the largest special interests in the state are trying to keep voters in the dark by killing the bill. Info at
