Gar Alperovitz on the need to transform "the most powerful corporate capitalist system in the history of the world."

Gar Alperovitz stresses the need for systemic transformation in his keynote talk at this weekend's Green Party convention. We're called, he said, for our actions to be "not simply a gesture," and the cumulative effect to be "not simply a new party, not simply a green movement," not just "doing politics," but "transforming the most powerful corporate capitalist system in the history of the world." This transformation is already beginning with the creation of co-ops, social enterprises, the spread of public banking legislation, and other projects that build "common wealth" and community resiliency. This video's well worth watching, or you can read the transcript here on the Democracy Now! website.
