Fairness in Minnesota as Governor approves third-party election judges

Diane Peterson, a member of the Green Party in Minnesota’s 4th District, writes: "I am very proud to announce that Governor Pawlenty signed into law a bill on Monday, May 12, which contains a provision removing the discrimination against people who do not belong to major parties from becoming election judges. House File 3172 contains this provision for which I lobbied, beginning in December 2004."

Ted Dooley of St. Paul, MN and former AfD Co-Chair, who sent this item, wrote: "So thanks to Diane's four years of persistent work with her legislators, the League of Women Voters, the League of Minnesota Cities, and other citizens, members of minor parties and independent voters may now serve as election judges there."
