Have you called Congress yet?

United for Peace's National Mandate for Peace Congressional Call-in Day was December 4--the day that members of congress returned to DC--but it is not too late to let your senator or representative know how you feel about the war. Call 202-224-3121 and remind Congress that the voters have given them a mandate for peace, and a call to bring the 140,000 U.S. troops in Iraq back home. Ask Congress to end funding for the Iraq war--the Constitution gives the Congress the power to end this war through the power of the purse. Sen. Robert Byrd has described this prerogative as "the fulcrum of the people's leverage ... to shackle the hands of an overreaching chief executive."

United for Peace and Justice is also organizing a national mobilization on January 27-29, bringing people from around the country to demonstrate and meet with the new Congress. For info, see their website.
