AfD's Mendocino chapter supports Clean Elections Proposition 89

Our Mendocino Coast Alliance chapter in California endorsed and has members tabling and in other ways working to pass Clean Elections Proposition 89 in November. Prop 89 will create a voluntary system of public funding for statewide election campaigns, including for both legislatures, the governor and all propositions. It's the best way to kick corporate cash out of election campaigns (at least until the Supreme Court repeals personhood for corporations and corporations can no longer hide behind the argument that money is speech).

This is the next big push after Maine and Arizona passed Clean Election legislation 5 years ago. It's been a big success, with 3/4ths of those legislatures now composed of "clean" representatives--ones who took NO special interest money. In California, election funding will come from an 0.2% state corporate tax increase, with no strings or expectations attached. That frees politicians to work for all of us instead of primarily for Big Bucks corporate funders.

To learn more about the campaign, visit www.cleanmoneyelections.org and find out "Who Supports Political Corruption--Donors against California Prop. 89." You'll find that the same corporations and elites that lobby for and support undemocratic "free" trade agreements also want to prevent public funding of elections.
